Art Pavilion – Venice

EXISTING Hillary Lloyd Pavilion

Temporary exhibition space for the work of Hilary Lloyd as part of the 50th Art Biennale, Venice 2003.

Stitched by sail makers on the south coast of England, the structure stands in the garden of an 18th century convent in the Giudecca district of Venice, the site of an exhibition by British artist Hilary Lloyd.

In direct contrast with the canvas exterior, the interior is perceived as permanent. The colour and light was informed by and also informed the artwork that is shown inside. Conventional white gallery walls line the 10x10m volume, a stopover devoid of content.
