Visiting the alpine region of Tirol in rural Austria reveals the rolling hills, slumbering villages and mountainous landscape as depicted in the paintings of Alfons Walde from the early 20th Century. Appointed to remodel this grand 300-year-old farmhouse, the proposal redraws the original lines of the house to reinstate its lost connection to the neighbouring meadows. Led by the archetypal materiality of the local vernacular, the farmhouse will hold a firm dialogue with its context and in balance, bare a new character in the reimagination of the terrace and its articulation.
